Description

ACI CONCRETE FIELD TESTING TECHNICIAN GRADE I (2-days) 6 CPD hrs.

The ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I course will benefit all personnel involved in testing fresh concrete. ASTM C31, C94, and ACI 301 all require that technicians making and curing concrete test specimens for acceptance be certified ACI Concrete Field Testing Technicians. A working knowledge of the following ASTM Standards is required for this certification program: C-172 Sampling Freshly Mixed Concrete; C-143 Slump of Hydraulic Cement Concrete; C-138 Density (Unit Weight), Yield, & Air Content (Gravimetric) of Concrete; C-231 Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by Pressure Method; C-173 Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by Volumetric Method; C-31 Making and Curing Concrete Test Specimens in the Field; C-1064 Temperature of Freshly Mixed Portland Cement Concrete.

Ohio Concrete Professional Engineers conduct the one-day review and administer the written and performance examinations (see COVID-19 updates below). Examinations are graded by the American Concrete Institute (ACI). Technicians successfully completing both the written and performance examinations will receive a certificate and wallet card from ACI certifying them as ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I (certification expires in 5 years). For recertification, ACI requires successful completion of both the performance and written examinations. Individuals may register for “ Full Exam Only”, however it is recommended that they register for the “Accelerated Course,” to review the current standards covered on the exam.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE:

Ohio Concrete will instruct participants to adhere to the facilities’ COVID-19 safety requirements at the review and exam session locations. This may require participants in the program to follow social distancing measures and adhere to state and local mask mandates for the duration of the program. A questionnaire form may be required by each participant including a temperature check prior to the start of the program.

While all programs are currently scheduled for in-person, we reserve the right to change the REVIEW session to a virtual platform as follows:

Virtual Review Sessions: Certification review sessions not held in person will be conducted virtually utilizing Microsoft Teams or Zoom virtual platform. Microsoft Teams or Zoom virtual account subscriptions are not required to participate. Instructions will be sent prior to the start of the course on how to use the virtual format. Ohio Concrete instructors will lead the review exactly as they would in-person, but participants will follow along remotely from their computer or mobile device. It will not be a pre-recorded presentation. Participants will have the ability to ask questions in real time. Participants will receive a code to attend virtually a few days prior to the start of the review session.

EXAM SESSIONS: MUST BE and WILL REMAIN in person, however we reserve the right to stagger groups following current state-mandated requirements for mass gatherings.

It is imperative that a valid e-mail address, for the registrant, is provided at the time of registration for communications confirmations, changes, and updates for all certifications.

We respectfully ask you to reschedule if you are sick, regardless of the illness. Additionally, we encourage you to wear a mask if you are more comfortable doing so.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact the Association office at 614-891-0210.
