Awards Program Description

Ohio Concrete is excited to open nominations for the 2025 Regional Excellence in Concrete Awards (formerly Regional Projects of the Year). We are thankful to our Association members for their past submissions representing some of the most innovative projects throughout the State.  This program has been active for nearly 15 years, and we are implementing a few changes to the program.  That said, the intent is still the same, which is to celebrate achievements in concrete throughout the State of Ohio and those that contributed to these achievements.

Celebrating both our members, owners, and the design team which have specified concrete as a solution to the design and construction challenges that are faced in the industry is gratifying to both our members and the team at Ohio Concrete.  Concrete is and will remain the number one product available to meet the needs of an ever-changing construction environment providing resilience and durability to a demanding consumer.

Project Categories:

Nominations are accepted in the following categories:

  • Parking Lots
  • Roads and Intersections
  • Interior Floors
  • Building Structures
  • Bridges
  • Infrastructure
  • Decorative

Submittal Criteria:

  • Deadline for the submission is September 30th
  • Projects must have been completed by June 30th and sufficiently completed so that a high-quality drone picture can be taken without the presence of construction equipment, unfinished landscape, etc… that would appear in the picture.
  • Submittals can include projects completed in the previous calendar year as well. Projects that have been submitted in the previous calendar year and did not win an award may be entered into the current year’s program.
  • Multiple entries from the same member will be accepted.
  • A completed submission form (included) completed by the member or Regional Promotion Director
  • High resolution photograph, if available. If not available, Ohio Concrete can assist with obtaining this photo.  This may require some assistance from the members based on the approvals needed.  If a photo is not obtainable the project can be submitted but will not be awarded.

Judging Criteria: Will include a minimum of one of the following

  • Demonstrates the value of using concrete
  • Demonstrates innovation
  • Demonstrates long life performance
  • Demonstrates a unique level of technical expertise
  • Demonstrates the unique aesthetic appeal decorative concrete provides
  • Demonstrates resilience and sustainable practices
  • Demonstrates the ability to overcome challenges

Awarding Process:

  • Regional Boards will select the award winner from each region. Only the non-producer and contractor board members are eligible to vote.
  • Winners will be announced no later than October 31st
  • Award winners will receive their awards at the respective Ohio Concrete regional fall seminars, typically held in November each year. Award winners will receive free admission to the regional fall conference to receive their award.
  • If it is not possible to make the presentation at the fall seminar, the regional promotion director will make arrangements to present the award at the convenience of the recipient.
  • Award winners will be displayed and recognized at the Ohio Concrete Annual Meeting Dinner Gala through video
  • Up to 3 awards will be presented, which include one (1) to the design firm or owner and up to two (2) to our members based on involvement. For example, if both a member ready mix producer and member contractor are involved, both will receive an award along with the designer.
  • Each winner will receive recognition through the Ohio Concrete website, social media channels and any other additional media exposure we are able to develop. For example, local news outlets.
