ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician

2 – Half Days Course • 3 CPD Hours Available Upon Request

The ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician program is designed for individuals involved in laboratory testing of concrete. This course includes a half‑day review session that prepares examinees for both the written and performance exams required for ACI certification.

Ohio Concrete instructors provide guidance on essential laboratory procedures, including determination of compressive and flexural strength. All written and performance exams are administered on the second day of the program.


Required Knowledge

Participants must be familiar with the following ASTM standards:

  • C617/C617M – Capping Cylindrical Concrete Specimens
  • C1231/C1231M – Unbonded Caps for Concrete Cylinders
  • C39/C39M – Compressive Strength of Cylindrical Concrete Specimens
  • C78/C78M – Flexural Strength of Concrete

Certification Requirements

ACI will grant certification only to applicants who meet both of the following:

  • Achieve a passing score on the ACI written examination
  • Successfully complete the ACI performance examination

Written Exam:

  • Closed‑book
  • Approximately 40 multiple‑choice questions
  • At least eight questions from each required practice or test method
  • Passing requirements:
    • Minimum 60% on each practice/test method
    • Minimum 70% overall

Performance Exam:

  • Closed‑book
  • Candidates must demonstrate all required steps for each procedure
  • Evaluated on accuracy and proper execution

All examinations are returned and scored by ACI. Certification is valid for five years. Recertification requires successful completion of both exams again.

  • A valid registrant email address is required for all communication—including confirmations, updates, and schedule changes.

Cancellation Policy

  • All cancellations are subject to a $15 processing fee.
  • Cancellations must be made at least 7 days prior to the course start date for a refund.
  • No shows will be charged full registration fees.
  • No credits will be carried over to the next year.
  • A $15 late fee applies to registrations made within 7 days of the exam.
  • Classes may be canceled if minimum enrollment is not met; registrants will be notified at least one week in advance.
  • Course fees are subject to change.
