NRMCA Pervious Concrete Contractor Certification (1 day) 2 CPD

This program is designed to educate, train and certify concrete finishers in pervious concrete placement. ORMCA engineers will provide a half day classroom training necessary for the knowledge in pervious concrete materials and proper placement procedures in preparation for the written ‘Technician’ examination following the training. NRMCA can provide certification on these two levels:

1) Pervious Concrete Technician, which requires passing a written exam.  A Pervious Concrete Technician is a person who is knowledgeable about proper procedures to place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, cure and protect pervious concrete pavements, but who lacks sufficient work experience to qualify as a concrete craftsman.
2) Pervious Concrete Craftsman, which requires passing the same exam plus documented work experience in placing pervious concrete pavement successfully. Also as a prerequisite, the ACI Flatwork Finisher certification is required to ensure that the craftsman knows the basic level of care needed for flatwork construction.

The program will include the following areas of concrete pavement construction:

• Pervious concrete materials and mix proportioning
• Proper selection and use of tools and equipment
• General design principles of pervious concrete pavements
• Pervious concrete construction and quality control
• Maintenance and troubleshooting

Recertification is required every five years and requires successful completion of a written examination. If previous craftsman certification has been expired by more than six months, recertification will require completion of both the performance/work experience affidavit and the written exam.
